Decorator of the Year

Lynne Lawson and Laura Gonzalez

National and regional design journalists judged their work the best among the winners in 12 categories. Lynne and Laura will be honored in New York City by renown interior designer Mario Buatta.

Upon seeing her new room - filled with drama and panache, and a bit of old Hollywood charm, Lynne and Laura's client immediately dubbed the guest bedroom her "Platinum Retreat!" Now, when her husband heads to his man cave to watch sports, she retires to her new Platinum retreat in luxury and style!

Donayre Award

Sharon Binkerd

Owners and decorators attending our annual conference were the judges for this prestigious award. Newly named in honor of Carol Donayre Bugg, ASID, author of five decorating books, and Decorating Den Interiors' Vice President and Director of Design.

Sharon designed a contemporary master bedroom fulfilling her clients' wish to "step out of their comfort zone." She cleverly combined a mix of traditional and transitional furniture styles, with contemporary fabrics. This room filled with soft shades of greys and golds was an immediate hit with her designer peers.

People's Choice Award

Kathie Golson

People throughout the world cast thousands of votes and chose Kathie's makeover the best.

A rectangular, bubble-jet tub replaced a large corner soaking tub. A booster was installed to provide instant hot water. A drop ceiling was created over the shower area to make it cozy and draft-free and add enhanced lighting. And, a second shower head was added. The sinks and vanities were replaced with beautiful bead board cabinetry with more drawers for organized storage.
