Nature’ bounty is never more splendid than during the fall months. Shorter days and a slight chill in the air all point us toward the inevitable knowledge that many of us will soon be surrounded even more by our indoor spaces. If fall is quickly approaching in your neck of the woods, here are a few ideas to give your home a bit of a quick FALL update!
Texture In Fabrics. When we think of fall it’s natural to think about casual comfort – “feel good” fabrics! So why not consider surrounding yourself with some awesome texture from fabrics all year long. Designs featuring colorful botanicals with flower, leaf and vine design prints are perennial favorites. Fabrics like linen, burlap, flannel, micro fiber, even leather can be wonderful additions to any decorating plan. Plus today’s worn weathered wood styles, are often found covered in natural cotton, and sport trims of raffia and hemp.
Texture Underfoot! Layering textures is another GREAT design trend that appeals to all design styles. Consider laying area rugs – by combining a variety of contrasting textures and textiles. Your home would definitely benefit from a fall face lift if you considered beginning your “under-foot” layering by placing a wool patterned or faux animal hide on top of a sea grass or jute area rug!
Wrap your room in pattern and texture! Wall covering is currently making a big impact in interior design. What a great way to give your space a cozy or dramatic presence for this season and beyond. From classic French Toile prints, contemporary Moroccan inspired graphics, or the textural charm of grass cloth – you’re sure to find a wall covering that fits your personal style.
If a fall face lift for your home is something you desire, remember to keep it fresh, and keep it simple. Often times a few small changes can go a really long way to achieving the look you desire. Select two or three tips and trends that best fit your personal style and let them take center stage. It’s so true that when redecorating, one simple focal point can make quite a design and style statement!
