Decorator of the Year

Barbara Elliott & Jennifer Ward-Woods

Sisters Barbara Elliott and Jennifer Ward-Woods, of Stone Mountain, Ga., lead a team of design professionals that consistently win both design and business awards. This is the second time they have been Decorators of the Year. They will be Decorating Den’s guests for an all-expense paid trip to New York City.

Their winning bedroom includes a sitting area with four arched windows and a door leading to the patio along with a tall cathedral ceiling that provide dramatic interest. A color palate of taupe grays, crème and a hint of lemon grass was chosen. Dark chests with metal accents flank the bed. A custom tall upholstered bed was covered in gray velvet and accented with pewter nail trim. Beautiful cream silk drapery panels accent the bay window.

People’s Choice Award Winner

Leen Zabalawi

People from throughout North America, and even beyond, cast more than 30,000 votes online. The winner was Leen Zabalawi, of Rochester Hills, Mich.

Leen’s client requested a more contemporary looking den. New hardwood flooring replaced carpet, a modern fireplace became a focal point, and transitional style furnishings with metallic antiqued art and mirrors carried a sophisticate feel. Pops of raspberry, pink and green, with geometric and floral prints, create interest and excitement throughout.

0218A1-16Donayre Award Winner

Barbara Elliott & Jennifer Ward-Woods

Owners and decorators within Decorating Den Interiors were the judges for the prestigious Donayre Award. It is named in honor of Carol Donayre Bugg, ASID, author of five decorating books and Decorating Den Interiors’ Vice President and Director of Design.

Our Decorators of the Year’s fabulous bedroom also was honored as the best of show by their colleagues at conference, who voted before the other awards were announced and without knowing the identity of the designer of the room.
