A graduate of Fayetteville State University, Barbara holds a degree
in Business Administration and was an accountant for a large government
entity. Jennifer owned and operated an insurance company.
Personal
Life:
These two sisters enjoy juggling busy business and personal schedules.
Barbara is married to a supportive husband and together they have
two children. Jennifer is a mom and a newlywed. Both enjoy shopping,
lying on the beach and sightseeing.
Reason
for starting an interior decorating business:
Barbara and Jennifer have always loved decorating. "We used
to help all of our family members decorate their homes."
Barbara states, "I always wanted the flexibility of my own
business. So when the opportunity became available, I purchased
the franchise. Jennifer was working at the time for another Interiors by Decorating Den
franchisee in North Carolina. Jennifer decided she
was ready for a change and accepted my offer to move to Atlanta
and become my partner. It has been GREAT ever since!"
What
Barbara and Jennifer like best about running an Interiors by Decorating Den
franchise:
"Working with each other is synergistic! We enjoy setting
our own goals. Also, with three children between us, it allows
us the flexibility to schedule our work around their needs."
Most
memorable moment:
"Recently we had the opportunity to help transform a master
bedroom and bath for a recent widowed client. Upon the completion
of the project she was so happy she cried. She stated it was just
what she needed to regain her life and move forward."
Business
Goals:
"Our long-term goal is to work just 10 months per year!"
Advice
to those considering entering a career in interior decorating:
"Ask yourself, what is your passion? You must really love
this business - it is filled with hard work but it offers the
greatest rewards! |
